I’m excited to share my Maybelline Better Skin foundation review with you today!
Whenever a new foundation pops up at the drugstore, with flashy packaging or smart marketing and ads, ladies go crazy hyping it up to their friends. I always want to go pick up the latest product to try it for myself. Hopefully my review helps you decide if the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin foundation might work for you.
Spoiler alert: I have used it a couple of times and like it so far. Seems like a good drugstore foundation for winter/non-oily skin.
My experience with the Maybelline Better Skin foundation:
It has a nice pump on the bottle. Now, the pump turns 360 degrees but it doesn’t lock. I would love to see a travel-friendly lock on this.
I can use just 1 pump for my whole face to get a nice, natural look.
But I do need to use brush to blend the foundation out, not just my fingers (this is my personal recommendation!) or else it looks streaky.
The shade 95 Coconut is a good color for me, and again, I got medium (almost full) coverage with one pump of product.
Maybelline Better Skin feels nice on my skin. It was very comfortable to wear and I didn’t feel like I was wearing any foundation.
So far, this is one of the best non-mattifying drugstore foundations I’ve used, in terms of how it looks and feels on my skin.
One tip: if you have oily skin you will probably prefer to use a primer underneath or setting powder/spray on top with this foundation so it won’t get shiny. For my testing, I didn’t use powder or primer, but a couple of hours later it was still comfortable and not too oily for me.
This Maybelline foundation provides a natural look that is slightly less shiny than my bare skin. It’s not mattifying, but it is oil free. Note that it is winter and not very humid/sunny where I am. I have a feeling this would get greasy on oily skin in a warm, sunny locale.
So if you want a matte look? Skip this foundation. Do you prefer a natural look with a bit of shine? The Better Skin foundation is pretty good for that!
I didn’t notice any fragrance and when I touched my face, it felt soft, not tight and not slick, either. Ladies, I am really picky about how foundations look and feel on my face HAHA Can you tell?!! But I have skin that gets oily during the day, so this is really important for me to test out.
So far, so good *thumbs up*.
After I picked this foundation up (see my drugstore makeup haul ) I couldn’t wait to take photos and swatch it on my arm. It seemed like a good pick right away, so I started testing it on my face right after the photo!
The photo above shows how the foundation looks blended out on my arm. See how it almost covered my beauty mark? And the finish looks soft.
Now, Maybelline claims that the form of vitamin C used in this foundation helps to reduce the appearance of spots/dullness/unevenness on your face after 3 weeks. Because I like the foundation so far, I could see myself testing out their claim, but I honestly don’t wear foundation on a daily basis.
Are you going to try wearing the Better Skin foundation for 3 weeks to see if this is true?
I’d love to see your review and results!
This foundation formula is supposed to last all-day, and it did last for a few hours on me (I was indoors all day). I didn’t experience any side-effects on my sensitive, acne-prone skin. Yay!
It includes titanium dioxide as a sunscreen for SPF 15 protection. I do like wearing products that include sunscreen because I rarely make an effort to apply sunscreen separately…oops. I hear that this foundation looks nice with flash photography, too. Do you agree with that claim if you’ve tried it?
I’ve shared the rest of the ingredients that are in the Maybelline Better Skin foundation, shade 95 Coconut. Main ingredients include water and dimethicone…plus a bunch of stuff I don’t know how to pronounce 🙂
So that’s all for this review. Which foundation do you think I should try next? Thanks for reading!
