I filmed The Barest Lip Color review and swatch so you can check out that quick video below ↓
The Estée Edit by Estée Lauder is available online at Sephora, so I chose The Barest Lip Color in 06 Nude Scene. The only thing I’m not a fan of so far is the price tag ($22 for .12 oz) waaahh lol. But it’s less expensive than other options (like Urban Decay’s Revolution Lipstick, $22 for .09 oz).
And I must say, I think the packaging is so cute and unique! I like the clean blue and white fade combination on the box and the tube looks awesome, too.
You can see this really well in my video, but that ridged silver lipstick tube actually is white at the top and fades into silver 🙂 The cap and base fit snugly together and there’s a nice weight to it; feels luxurious to hold and use.
Someone said that one of The Barest Lip Color shades looked great on her dark skin tone, but I chose 06 Nude Scene which was darker than the shade she suggested. My skin tone looks great in MAC NW45 foundation, for reference and Nude Scene doesn’t look “nude” or flesh-toned on my pigmented lips–but I think it will provide that look for someone with a darker skin color for sure!
But honestly, I kinda want to “catch em all” on this one, I really am enjoying the formula and packaging! HAHA Let’s continue…
The Barest Lip Color Review | Shade 06 Nude Scene
When I filmed, I was trying to describe the shade and I said “reddish brown”. Come to find out, Sephora now lists it as “blackberry nude” so I was pretty close with that! I’ll get better with descriptions, stay with me!
She’s ready for her close up 🙂 So Nude Scene glides on with a balmy smoothness on my lips and feels so comfortable to wear. It really does remind me of tinted lip balm.
- There is a light fragrance that quickly fades, so I’m not bothered by it.
- The Barest Lip Color looks great on my lips, drawing attention from any dryness or fine lines rather than accentuating them. Yay!
- There is a strong sheen, not shiny like gloss, but you can see it very well.
- The color is semi-sheer but easily buildable, as you can see in my video.
- After the shine fades from my lips, the color is still stained and lasting for hours.
- I never felt like I needed extra lip balm–I really like how moisturizing The Barest Lip Color is!
If you like tinted lip balms but want more color, or if you like rocking a nude lip, I highly recommend that you check out The Barest Lip Color.
And here are the ingredients for you:
I like that the lipstick includes oils and shea butter, but I could do without ingredients like fragrance and the fact that Estee Lauder is not a cruelty free company. I do like that this product was made in Canada because that means there’s a better chance that the employees were treated fairly.
Do you have a favorite product by Estée Lauder I should try next? Thanks for reading!
P.S. This is totally unimportant, but does it bother anyone else that the lipstick packaging says “lipcolor” all one word? Now I need to know, is it “lip color” or not?!! Aaaahhhh!! (just kidding, I’ll be ok..)
