The ULTA foaming fresh hand soap is what’s currently on my bathroom sink.
Price and Availability: The 8 oz bottle is currently $6 on Ulta’s website.
About the ULTA Foaming Fresh hand soap: I was disappointed to find that the bottle leaked during shipment to my home. But it is a plastic bottle with a pump top that locks with a twist. This soap is made in Canada.
Claims: Soothes, heals, moisturizes skin. Nourishes and conditions skin. Leaves hands feeling refreshingly clean and soft.
My experience: At first, I liked that the scent was lighter than Bath and Body Works soaps that I would usually use. ULTA’s soap also seemed to not dry my skin out. But after using about half of the bottle, I notice that I quickly need to use hand lotion after washing my hands and the fragrance is quite noticeable to me; I try to avoid bringing my hands near my face and I try to rinse VERY well.
It does smell very good, though! And it foams nicely to leave my hands clean. The pump is easy to use, too.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Parfum (Fragrance), Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Panthenol, Benzophenone-4, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Red 40, Blue 1.
I don’t like that sodium laureth sulfate and fragrance are main ingredients in this hand soap. I believe that these ingredients irritate my skin and my respiratory system when they are concentrated in such high amounts.
This is definitely an ingredient combo that I don’t want to use multiple times a day.
The lack of triclosan, parabens and pthalates is great, though.
Animal testing: no
Recommendation: If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to the Bath and Body Works hand soaps, ULTA Foaming Fresh soaps are an awesome choice. If you want a hand soap that is effective while also being gentle and natural, you should keep looking for another product. I won’t be repurchasing this soap for my home.
